I think they should have a mosconi cup where team Europe plays against team USA and have team USA be made up of Europeans who live in the USA. That would be a great Mosconi cup.

Possible USA members - Darren Appleton, Mika Immonen, Thorsten Hohmann, Jayson Shaw....who else?

Many times this has been brought up, does not quite work though for national pride or with figuring out who can play. Do they need to be citizens? Live more than 50% in the US? We'll just be hearing from the Euro side how we needed their help to win (if we won like that).

I like the World Cup of Pool format better for my money for an international competition. Longer races, more variety of teams.

Mosconi cup is not that relevant anymore given how the world team championships and world cup of pool have gone in recent years. I'll still watch and hope USA can make it competitive throughout but the world team championships is our sport's olympics.

MC not relevant anymore?

Sure it is. It's a part of the pool culture (or any sport) to hold a country vs. country competition.

Just because U.S.A isn't doing so well these days doesn't mean it's not relevant.
If anything, our team and our program is becoming hungrier for the CUP.
This losing streak will hopefully make us better by tweaking those dynamics that need improvement.

Keep watching, my friend.

There are a multitude of sports where players play for their country for Olympics, etc, but live and train in the United States. Golf and swimming are good examples as are Hockey, Basketball and Tennis.

I'm proud of that. And I'm glad Darren/Mika/Jayson are in the States. When Europe wins the Mosconi, we Americans can relish in the fact that our country is what helped them become great. They're great champions that are worthy of carrying our country's honor as their training ground.

The Euros on AZ that don't get this should be pitied. They just will never get it how amazing it is to live in this country. Weep for them.

Freddie <~~~ loves the Euros

that is a strong team
there is another scottish player out of the reno/sac area pretty strong, not MC material but prob better than schmidt lol

I was just thinking the same thing after learning that Darren Appleton lives about 3 hrs North of me :)

Jayson Shaw made me think about it. I thought he was quitting pool and moving out and the next thing I see is him dominating at Steinway.

Of course I myself have thought about quitting this game many times and have never gone through with it.
