I talked to mee good ol buddy Bob the other day. He told a story, or rather a little quote, from Willy Mosconi. In or around Boston about Oct ’63 there was a tourney or exhibition. The winner got a chance to play Willy. While waiting to see who would win that chance (which Bob told me who it was, I can’t remember though) Bob ask Willy a few questions.
Bob: Mr. Mosconi, how’d you get to be soooo good?
WM: Simple, you have to do three things.
(holding up three fingers and then folding them down one at a time.)
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, and PRACTICE.
Bob: But,… YOU’RE so good. Don’t you ever have slumps?
WM: Sure I do, everyone has slumps. There are some days…
…when I can only run 2 – 3 hundred balls.
I thought it was kinda funny.
I guess slumps are relative. My slumps, however, seem to be much, much more severe. Or, I could look on the bright side and feel that I will never ever be good enough to have a slump like that.
