Moving to a heavy playing cue

I use a 23oz cue, 59 inch long. the main problem you might face,as others have said, increasing the weight from 18 to 20. Will have an impact on the balance. If you use it enough you can probably get over that.
I would try first increasing the weight little by little. You might find, you don't want it that heavy.

I got very lucky with mine, no weight bolts. Just a very heavy butt with a 3.90 oz shaft. the one thing that is different with mine, where the balance is, feels like it weighs 19oz, forward balanced.
At the end of the day, its what feels right for you.
I also use a 59" cue, 30" shaft 29" butt, I leave a 3" extension on the butt for a total of 62" unless I need to remove it for an obstruction, 22.5 oz.

That is the combination i like, also.but with out the extension.mine is a completely solid butt cap. It was made bumper less no weight bolt in the back. The shaft i use a little over 30. What does the extra 3 inches give you?

I bought the extension set for my cue to use on 9ft tables, when they arrived I put the shortest one on just to see what it felt like, I had never used extensions before, for me it just felt great, loved the balance of my cue, after about a half hour it became part of my playing cue, I know you can order a longer butt for a cue but what I like is if I am in a cramped bar playing in the league, I can take it off, put it in my back pocket and then in a couple of seconds put it back on again.
