Moving to American Pool

In a couple of months I'll be heading from England to Canada, to find a job and kick around for a year.

I've played a lot of 8 ball in England (smaller balls, tables and different rules), and plan to put some time in on your continent too.
But there's some preperation to be done!

i) Can anyone recommend a site that'll explain the full rules for 8 ball, straight pool and 9 ball (without going into rule-book technicalities and unreadability).

ii) Some advice on playing the games, tactics, pool hall 'etiquette' and stuff would be very much appreciated.

A couple more questions on the rules though:

In 8 ball, is an intentional foul permitted ? (In some English rules it's loss of game).

And just one shot after a foul, yes?

Calling a Safety - what's the deal with that

Straight pool - how does that work ?

9 Ball - foul and pot the 9 and it's re-spotted, right ?

What is a Massé ?
