I first learned of Stan's Pro 1 DVD last year before Christmas, I bought the DVD and tried to get an understanding while I was on vacation over the holiday.
As some people have mentioned it was a struggle to understand some of the concepts. Like for instance, where to put your feet; what Ball you are focusing on as you are bending into the shot. I watched the DVD many times. I emailed Stan a few times and he was very quick to reply. I put a few weeks into CTE Pro1 and went back to the old way of ghost ball, feel aiming.
A week or so ago I read Gerry's Post and watched the video where he calls out the visuals. I got Stan's DVD and watched it again. I mapped out all shots on the cuetable app (maybe overkill) but it was helpful to actually see the shots mapped out on the table and makes it faster for me setup the shot on the table.
I was practicing this morning and it occurred to me that I was going into the shot incorrectly. I have been playing pool for over 30 years and it hard to change old habits.
Old way of aiming. Find the aim line by using the ghost ball or feel. walk into the shot putting my right foot on the aim line while keeping my eyes on the object ball.
My understanding of Pro1. Stand to the side slightly, find the visuals for the aim points and focus on the center cue ball while coming into the shot. What I was doing wrong was looking at the object ball? It seems a little backwards at first to me, but after focusing on the Cue ball my shot percentage seemed to improve.
