there, i've said it!! i don't know how i got into it, but i buy/collect really nice production cues. i can't afford to buy high end custom cues, and never will be able to afford them. instead, i look for full splice or half splice production cues, like d-series mcdermotts, older piloted joint cobra, early 90's joss, joss-made brunswicks, rich q's, vikings with the clear plastic windows. i do have a few "customs" , the most common being a few palmers, plus a ricco cervantes jump/break cue and a rohnzohn(sp?). along the way, i've picked up some great cases like fellinis, mcdermott centennial, palmer custom cues case.
when it comes time to sell a cue or two, i find it is so easy to sell one of these to either a player or a collector, since the price range is usually about 200 bucks vs. a grand or more for a custom. if sold to a player, i'm always happy to buy the cue back from them when they eventually buy something else ( and we all eventually buy and use something else, right?).

btw, if not for e-bay, i don't think this obsession would have ever began. thanks e-bay!

how many of you share my dirty little secret and have acquired a number of beautiful production cues?

Larry. Any interest in a c-18 in mint shape. or a d series mcdermott with the dice. Or the d series with the rose. Just wondering.

rooko, wanna pm me about the d series with the dice, d-19 i think. condition, price, shaft size, photos.
thanks

If you're interested in a brand new Schon STL-19, I have one of those also that I'd let go for basically Schon's wholesale price. The only balls that has ever been hit with it was by someone who was considering buying it, and he hit less than 10 balls. I bought the cue to play with, but before I received it, I ended up talking to Padgett and having the cue built that I play with now. So when I got the Schon, I just figured I wouldn't play with it and would eventually sell it.

Hay i know come one who has the d-19 and i thing he selling it .but i going be hi it a collectors cue ..

there are a million used production cues out there. i can't buy all of them, so i need to be pretty selective. bargain price is one criteria. anyway, this thread is not a solicitation to buy cues. i'm just making a point that there are lots of beautiful cues out there that don't cost thousands of dollars.

If you're buying used production cues as they appear here and there. Consider McDermott's RS (Revival Series) models, some of them are very nice looking. IMO
I have an RS-07. I guess strictly speaking it is no longer collectable production since I had it refinished, a leather wrap put on, and the balance moved forward, but I like it better that way.
