Greetings, AZers... my brother tuned me into this site a while back, but I've never had reason to register and post until I picked up a new cue...

I was in the market for an ebony on ebony cue to replace my two Meucci O-1s. My brother (lord_shar on here) advised me to order a Gilbert, since he got his from Andy, and swears by the hit, but I didn't have the time to wait for Andy to make me a cue. I wanted the new cue in time for my birthday, and to start APA league fall session. I looked around, and found the Schon SP1106, and really liked the style, with six-point ebony on ebony and ivory diamond inlays. This Schon SP1106 was special ordered from Seyberts with a full black Irish linen wrap, and I have to say, their customer service is top notch. Without further ado, the pics:

The points (the angle of the shot makes it look like the points aren't even, but they are):

I've played with the cue for a few days, and it's taking me a bit of time to adjust to the hit, which is completely different in character from the Meucci hit (even though the OL-1 has a metal joint).

The break cue is on its way (A McDermott non-stinger EB-07 break/jump with leather tip), and I may go ahead and order a cue from Andy in the future, but for now, I'm very satisfied with this Schon. I may order an OB-1 shaft for it in the future, but the hit is nice and solid, and I think it's a beautiful cue.

Yeah, I like the veneers, too. That burnt orange/red really offsets the ebony points, and gives it a nice flash of character. In very bright light, at an angle, you can see the grain and minor color changes in the ebony, and it looks very nice.

The one I have in mind for Andy to make for me is similar in design: ebony on ebony (the darker, the better, preferably Gaboon ebony), with 6 white inlays or veneers marking the points (ivory?), ivory inlays in each point, and in 3 positions on the sleeves, corresponding to every other point (I haven't decided on an inlay shape yet, but I'm partial to 7-pointed stars). The other 3 positions will have a cat's head outline (or maybe the design in my avatar), in ivory, as my signature look. To finish off the cue, I would go with a black smooth leather wrap. I don't know if having 6 inlays in the sleeve will be too busy, so I'll have to trust Andy's judgment on it. I think the white on black will look very elegant, and it would certainly be a unique cue. Of course, I will have to save a nice chunk of change for the design, so it will be a while before I get it built (and Andy's prices go up, as his cues gain more renown).
