My personal Cognoscenti

Here's a photo and link to my own Cognoscenti Cue. I used to think you had to be nuts to spend over $500 for a cue. After all, some $200 SP's hit as well as any custom cue can- especially to someone with my limited talent!
I met an excellent player in 1997-Gary Green- that turned me on to Cognoscentis. He had (2) Coggies that he played with regularly. Yes, he'd even break with them. His philosophy was "If I paid $XXXX for a cue- I better be able to break with it!".
Being the only "competeition" for each other at our regular watering hole, we often matched up, and even played alot of "partners" with each other. He would let me use either of his Gognos- any time we played. I had a very nice Huebler H-14, so it wasn't like I was looking for a "nice" cue.
When Gary had a "mishap" with his Ford Explorer, he came to me for repairs- since I was in the body-business. Rather than pay cash- we worked out a deal that I would trade for one of his Coggies. I never would have thought I'd ever own a "high-end" cue... but I just couldn't resist this deal.
After playing with My Cog for the last 4+ years, I doubt I could ever part with it. There is nothing about my cue that I "don't like". It's like it was built for me. Have a look:

Thanx...

According to Joe (email 8-15-03)- it would be ~$3250 to build now ($3K+ $250 w/xtra-shaft)
Joe doesn't build any 2 cues exactly alike, he usually changes something.
Here is a very similar cue- currently offered for sale: (I dont know this seller)

Personally... I wouldn't sell mine for that...(or the "retail")

heh heh... you are catching me sitting here perusing the NG's and Forums...

Well, I don't know about "similar"... I guess if you count that it has points with ovals between them. ! (j/k)

Value (like beauty) is in the eye of the beholder. If you checked the "want ads"- you will see that I have another Cog for sale. It is a much fancier Cog than mine, but I wouldn't trade it even. That might sound dumb to some, but I PLAY with my Cog. Everytime out! I will break with it on occassion (sinful huh?) when I'm not paying attention. My tastes run more towards a more understated cue. Really fancy cues just don't impress me for some reason. I can appreciate the workmanship.. but prefer function and performance.
