When I started getting serious about pool, I decided I wanted a custom playing cue. After looking around, I found Bob Flynn of Denali Cues and asked him to build me one, and I liked it so much I had him build me another (actually two, but the one not pictured I had him build for my dad).
The top cue is Amboyna Burl, the handle is Black Palm with some Brazilian Rosewood bringing up the rear. The rings are Holly. The whole cue is cored with Purpleheart like almost all of Bob's cues.
The bottom cue is York Gum with a Lacewood segmented handle with Macassar Ebony rings. This has been my daily player since I got it, the balance of the cue is absolutely perfect for me.
I know they aren't fancy but they play amazing and the wood is gorgeous. Years later, after a lot more pool playing, trying other cues, looking at what cues sell for I feel like I robbed a train: I paid $660 total for these two cue butts and one shaft (I started playing with LD shafts between the purchases).
