Natural Ideas the Billiards Industry Doesn't want you to know

1. Favortism is the rule of law. Unless you give out favors you don't get favors.

2. Rules are optional if you know the rulemakers or policy writers, getting to know important people requires having money or advertising power.

3. Committing yourself to pool requires decades of service and even then becoming a favorite is not a sure thing, its a glass ceiling.

4. The industry will support only people that give favors.

5. The best favors to giveout are cash, clean prostitutes, and drugs.

6. Dirty dealing is all about the backroom deal, in order to learn about the secret entrance you have to demonstrate your ability to "party like a rockstar."

7. Tournaments aren't about player prizes they are about using easy money to pay off debts.

8. Organized pool governing is all about being popular the more popular you can make someone the better your chances of surviving.

9. Pool players are like fast food eaters, you make them wait in line so they can see who gets special treatment and then you promise it will be like that for them one day.

10. Money is the flaw of pool players just promise or advertise money and like junkies looking for a fix they find themselves to the pot of gold.

The biggest secret in the industry is "people with money are thought of as smart." But the truth is people with money are usually the least competent because all they know how to do is go to the store and see what is for sale.

Unlike the pro player who has to navigate to various locations, follow rules and prepare a plan for their travels, the tournament organizer simply use cash (from where ever they get it) and spends it how most normal people spend, they just might spend a little more on things. Doesn't take too much skill.

Ask them Wall Street bankers they blew through a couple hundred million in less than a year and need a second helping. Modify that comment to the billiards industry and it'd be in the tens of thousands range and maybe over the course of a few decades.

During a tournament the most important thing to know is that "future investors" like to watch the feed farm. That is which chicken or hen is the least likely to suspect thievery. Investors are always looking to score sponsors the hard part is finding who has the right mix of stupid, naivety and desperation for additional cash. They just need someone to say "I'll support the idea it seems like a great cause."

Sounds like you discribed Buisness from the dawn of time..money is and
always will be the root of all Evil..but..it only becomes Evil if you don't
have any and you get caught stealing some..Smart people do make the
money..never seen a dumb ass millionaire..have you?..Money and Standing
within any Entity is what its about..thats why we have Greatness in all
Sectors of Buisness..and yes..pool is a Buisness on that level..but does it
really matter..most players i have ever know just liked to Play and Gamble
a little and have Fun..Personal satisfaction is what Billiards of all kinds is
about..i don't give a shit about who's making money in this Sport..if it gets
a little good recgonition so beit..I like going to my Hall and being able to
secure a table..Piss on crowds..thats for the showboaters..Billiards is older
than most sports and will be what it is..acceptance is key..love it..like it..
hate it..its up you You!!...SA
