Need a Shaft Recommendation

I'm not 100% sure where to post this, but I'm not looking for a review. I would like a recommendation on a new shaft, and who better to offer that recommendation than an instructor?

Anyways, onto what I'm looking for. I'm interested in picking up a new shaft. I'm looking for a low deflection shaft with a stiff hit, that has a VQR joint. I've been looking at the predator line, OB-1/2, and Tiger (although haven't seen a Tiger shaft with a VQR joint). I've read plenty of opinions and reviews. And from what I've read, the OB-2 has a stiffer hit than the OB-1. The Z-2 offers less deflection than the 314-2. I don't have the opportunity to try out these shafts in my area, so figured I would come here and get some advice.

Also, will a 5/16x18 joint fit a vqr butt? My cue specs says 5/16X18 quick release. So is that a 5/16x18 or a QR, or are they the same thing?

Sounds like you might enjoy the OB Classic Pro. Call Royce and ask about it. He can fit a shaft to any joint.

Would the Pro or just the standard classic work better? I prefer a straight or pro taper to a european taper. I believe (from what I've read) the Pro has a Euro taper and a 11.75 tip, whereas the standard Classic has a pro taper with a 12.75 tip.

Try to find someone that has one and shoot a couple racks with it. It is hard to recommend a shaft for someone else. Lots of cue makers can make a cue to fit your specs, so it will be your "feel" for the shaft that matters. Good luck, John

you really confused me with this a pro taper is the same diamater for a specified distance from the ferrule then increases at a steeper rate to the joint a euro or conical taper increases consistently fro the ferrule to the joint.
