Hello,

Decisions, decisions. I just bought a new Connelly 8' table. I'm having it sent back for a 7', which I should have just bought in the first place but I let the salesman talk me into an 8'.

I decided to pay the $200 upgrade for the Simonis 860 cloth, for the new 7' table.
Mostly because its suppose to last many years longer then the standard cloth. Also I noticed the standard cloth pilled easy, got friction burn marks easy, and divots easy from miscues and jump shots.

Other then some practice shots on 9' table in the showroom I've never played on Simonis cloth before.

Is the Simonis cloth extremly fast? Is there a HUGE difference in play on Simonis? I'm wondering if myself and my friends that come over are going to have a hard time adjusting to it or is the change not that significant to take out the fun factor?

I'm also wondering if Simonis is overkill for a 7' table.

Another thought that came to mind is I may eventually want to join a local leauge for fun and I might play really bad going back to standard cloth from the fast cloth.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

You are thinking about it to much. Simonis is great cloth. I am sure yo will love it. Plays, and rolls great. You can't go wrong.

Yeah your probably right. I am overthinking it. But because I didn't overthink it I let the salesman talk me into an 8' table wich I'm unhappy with now :)

I suppose the cloth is not near as an important decision as the actual table though....so I will just patiently wait until its arrival and enjoy it.

Simonis is normally fast when installed right... If it installed wrong... without stretching it is soooo slow.

best of luck though...

I have simonis now but it gets so many burn marks...
Wish i had the tounament 30/30 instead.

If installed right... well that worries me more. You should see the crappy job the guy did installing the standard cloth. Its already coming up and bubbling around most the pockets, and he cut a big noticable V in the side pockets that looks tacky.

Although I love the Connelly table itself, I'm pretty much done with Connelly Billiards after my 7' table is delivered. I've gotten nothing but bad avise from their sales people.

When I was talking to them about the Simonis cloth, I asked weather they had the 760 or 860. They didn't even know the 760 existed, and told me the 860 was 95% wool 5% nylon, which I had to correct them on that. These guys definatly need to learn some product knowledge other then there own tables. I could go on about all the other bad avise they gave me but I didn't come here to bag on Connelly :)

They did show me the burn marks on Simonis cloth, but I dont think its as bad as the cheap standard cloth.

Racer RX , are you using the 760 or 860?

Thanks
