Need Help Changing 3-Jaw Chuck

I bought a Deluxe lathe new from Chris Hightower quite a few years ago. Recently one of the jaws on my 3-jaw chuck broke off. Now the chuck won't turn and I know I need to replace it. Here are some pictures below. I called Chris and he said that the chuck screws on counter clockwise. My question is, what part of the chuck comes off, and how do I keep the chuck from
spinning? Should I take the belt pulley off or is that small part of the tube on the back enough to put in a vise and hold things so I can screw the chuck off and screw on the other one? What is a good chuck to buy, and where should I get it? And if there is anything else I should know about this repair, please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike

I have always just left the headstock together and put my index pin in one of the holes to stop the spindle from spinning. It looks like you have a rust problem on your chuck. If it will not come loose a little heat will help loosen it up. You do not want to over heat and get the whole headstock too hot and burn the grease out of your bearings.

If they are really tight I have used a cresent wrench on one of the jaws for more leverage, since you have to replace the jaws anyway it will not matter if you scratch one of the jaws up.

It's just a thought but looking at the photos, You might just want to call Chris and if he will take it.. put it all in a box and send it to him to repair for you.
