I'm trying to figure out what joint and insert might be utilized in this pool cue. I purchased the cue out of the Philippines. I was originally told it was a QR joint used by Viking or McDermott. I'm trying to get a shaft made but we can't figure out what insert to use. The one on the left is a predator and the one on the right is the one in question. Thanks

This is going to be fun but please bare with me.
Viking Q/R is 5/16x18.
That one was easy.
McDermott only has one version of thier own now,
3/8x16 but early on in Q/R, they also had a 3/8x10 and because of the shorter length in threads, the Predator Uni loc screwed on to it but McDermott s were a flat faced joint.
Now,
As you see in the picture.
4 joint screws somewhat close looking where they would stick out of the cue.
EXCEPT..... Not really.
1st on left. By itself
2nd. Uni loc and 3rd,
The uni loc insert fits both. A little Sloppy on the 3rd.
Then,
Joint screw #4, out of China. The brass insert for this also fits joint screw #3.
Oh Boy.
And people think I don't have any fun.
Hahahahahaha

This is all very interesting, but I'm not sure what my next step should be to figure out a insert choice for the purchase of a new shaft. The cue builder said the joint is a 3/8x18 QR. I can't find anything that matches those numbers. The cue came from the Philippines and the company is definitely not easy to deal with.

Understood.
Your most precise option would be to get the Cue maker to sell you some inserts for future whatevers, and a joint screw so a maintenance mandrel could be made so you can spin the shafts.
Or
Have the joint screw changed.
Wish I could offer better advice!

Looking at your picture again. The beginning spacing of your threads looks more coarse than an 18 count. Over seas is also popular for doing a 3/8x12. Wish you lived close to me.
