Hey everyone. I'm new here to AZ even though I have read the forums for quiet some time.
I think I have a great opportunity in opening or I guess you could say making an existing place into a very nice pool room. The existing place is in a small college town in East Texas with a population of about 15,000. About 10 minutes down the road is Longview, TX with an inside city pop. of about 85,000. About 20 minutes the other way is Tyler, TX with about 100,000 pop. There are many close smaller towns which make the population of the radius area close to 500,000.
What I am wanting to do is make this room the room it used to be before a tornado did some major roof damage to it about 7 years ago. It used to be the hot spot from the early 90's til then with about 16 tables-mainly valleys. Now there is two 8 ft brusnwicks that are in great shape, 2 valley 7's, and a 10ft snooker table. The owner doesn't do anything to bring people in and is open limited hours. I am wanting to put eight 7ft Diamond smart tables and two 9ft Diamond smart tables in and run the pool side of the business. I will also have a small pro shop and work on tips, ferruls, etc. I will bring in leauges, and have weekly, monthly and bi-annual tournaments. The only investment I have to make is to buy the Diamonds and about 4K in fixing up the back room. My only expenses to the owner will be to pay half of the utilities(about $300/mo). I will not have to pay any rent. I will make 100% of the pool and pro shop. The owner will pay half of any money added to tournaments.
Another thing. There are no Diamond tables in this area. Everyone gripes all the time because they have to play on the same ol crappy tables. This place will be clean, spacious and ran like a real pool room should.
Please let me know you opinions good or bad.
Thanks, Jason
