Anyone replaced the main bearings on their Porper Q-Lathe?
Would you share the model of bearings you used and the process of replacing them?

I think I need to replace mine as there is a bit of play in them.
Would prefer to upgrade from the ones in there now.

Dont know how hard of a job it is to replace them.

Oh ... I see ... 😬
Michael, getting old has its downside.
Two things I noticed about the mid 70's ... memory is not as sharp as it was and I cant remember the other one.
Thanks for the post and the information ... printed it out and will post it on the wall near the lathe.
Never did get the Chris Hightower lathe.

I'm thinking sold you that lathe about 16 years ago and you have already worn out the bearings, lol There is a cnc forum i use to go to, i built quite a few high-end cnc machines with a little guidance from a few engineers on that site

Not to bad of a job unless the bearing wore out the spindle. I purchased one year's ago from porper and it was around $200.00 and the bearings around $50each.I found old stock bearings on Ebay for $15 each last year. It's a poland bearing 62092rs . The spindle on my last One was a little loose and I could not purchase one, so a little loctite 660 retaining compound worked great.
