New cue case review ...

I haven't really bought any Pool stuff for some time,
mainly because my budget won't allow too much,
but I bought an Action Elite ELN35 black vinyl case
last Thursday from Pooldawg.com. I really want a
Jim Murnak Vintage case, so, at the time, this is a
reasonable $$$ compromise for me. I still plan on
getting a Vintage case later on.

For a look see: Pooldawg Action Elite Eln35

I just got my new case, have thoroughly inspected, and finally
transferred all my pool equipment and other stuff to it.

It is better looking in real life than what the picture on the net reflected.
The vinyl is of 2 different types: a soft sheen gently patterned and another
that is shinier with a horizontal pattern to it. They complement each other
when you see the case in person.

The pockets are okay, but the small pocket on my other case was taller
(I had to catty corner a bic pen in the new one), and ended up putting my
micro FM radio in the big pocket. I still put a crutch head, sandpaper, candy, couple pieces of chalk in it with a little room left.

The big Pocket is fine, but slightly narrower than my old case. I still had no trouble getting a small notepad, radio, cigarettes, and a Q-claw (2 cues) in it with room to spare. The separate Jump butt pocket with the zipper on the side is nice, and much handier. I had no trouble getting my Scorpion jump
butt into it.

The case seems to be made with good quality. I like how they have the
shoulder strap and built better padding into it than most. The bottom of
the case has 4 molded plastic feet. I can see things they did on the case
to keep the case 'light'.

The case has 2 sections: A section for butts that is spring loaded tubes
with a pull over cover with spring latch that locks automatically when you
hook it up. I like the spring loading on it. It holds 3 butts horizontally.

The other section has 2 zippers that when unzipped resemble more like
a soft case that is unzipped at one end. It has tubes that hold 5 shafts
horizontally, and the tops of each is easy to get hold of.

Both, the butts and shafts can be inserted in the case either way, with
joints up or down.

I concluded that this would be a bargain if it was a 2 x 4, but is even
better that it is a 3 x 5. If you want a good case, bigger than a 2 x 4,
that is well organized, good quality, for a decent price, then I would
recommend this Action Elite Eln35 from Pooldawg.com for $79.20 with
free shipping (over $50 purchase from Colorado.). Beads and Billiards also carries this case ($79.99 sale price with free shipping from Washington.)
For those on a tight budget, this seems to be a good case.

I ordered mine late morning on a Thursday at Pooldawg.com website
via Paypal, and received from UPS on Monday afternoon about 3:30 pm.

Note: This case is also available in a 2 x 4, which I believe
sells for about $60. (saw them on Ebay, not Pooldawg)

Next on the agenda, save for a Flaming Birdseye XBreaker which will fit
into my case very nicely.

I used to have one of those cases, and I really liked it. I just didn't like the extra weight. Very durable and seemed to protect my cues very well. I didn't like how the joint pins dug into the top flap, and putting JP's on the butt made it pretty tight to close.

I have since ordered me a wheeled case like the ones found here from my buddy Erik Lee. http://www.jjcue.com/case-wheels.htm

I got the combo version 2x4 with the zippered upper pouch. Hope it works for me!

Shorty ...

I inquired about the case you are getting about a week ago,
and they wrote and said, that in 6 weeks, they would have
more combinations of the case, and more colors. I took that
to mean color combinations, and perhaps a 3 x 6 offered.

I have preferred to put my butts in with bumper up,
and my shafts with tip down, so it is not a problem
for me. I don't use JP's, except my jump butt has
one. I think they are overrated, and just a way to
get you to spend more money. Use to have some,
got damned tired of putting them on and off all the time.
My cues and case will never be out in the weather either,
always inside.
