New England One Pocket ?!?!

First and foremost, I love me some one pocket. I just wish there was more interest in the tournament world in New England. I'm from Connecticut and am thinking of organizing a regular tourney in the area. Any interest from the forum? I'm trying to figure out what size field I'd be working with. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Where in CT do you play out of? I love one pocket but no one in my home room plays it so I usually end up practicing it by myself

Theres alot of 1 pocket players that would love to participate

in a local 1 pocket tournament. New york, new jersey, and

connecticut aint nothing but a hop, skip, and a jump away from

one another.

I play out of the ny/nj area. Im a fiend myself. If the 'market

and promotion' of the tournament is desirable, i dont see why

you cant get a nice field with caliber players.

I recommend a 2-day event, max 16 players (you know how long 1

hole can take sometimes), double elimination, race to 3 on both

sides (give the players a fair shake for their money), and add, if

you or the house can, minimum $500.00, have it during a time

frame where very little to nothing pool-wise is happening, and

promote it in a timely fashion.

And if players fiend like i do, i dont see why you should'nt get a

nice turnout.

Hopefully you'll have success.

Just tell me where i need to sign up!!! :-)

I generally play out of TCB in North Haven, CT only because they're the only "room" open at 12. Its cheap, the table is a rug, but they're good to me and the owner and staff are great. I've been known to hit up Towne in Hamden and Branford Cue & Brew too.

I've been looking at the 2nd weekend in May. Race to 3 on the winners side and a race to 2 on the losers with one longer race to 4 at the end so you don't have to play two matches. I too was thinking no less than $500. I'm not looking to make anything for my time I just want to have a good time and offer fair good hard play for everyone. I figured with a smaller field of hardcore players, an entry fee of $75-100 with the top four spots paid.

I'm going to put together a flyer and email it to all the rooms in the surrounding area and see what response I get. And wutang you'll be the first to know!
