is it possible to change the ferrule of an ob shaft with a conventional one??
I have an ob2 and im not a fan of the maple laminated ferrule it has. I got it for half price so I thought I was getting a good deal but I need a white ferrule

A ferrule was originally installed so why would you think it couldn't install another? I have changed ferrules on both Predator and OB's using Titan as a ferrule material. After talking to OB themselves a couple of weeks ago I was told that the material that they use is XTC on their Classic line of shafts. That is what I would use but be sure to use their carbon fiber pad between the tip and ferrule. There will probably be a little difference in deflection qualities but if you can't get used to shaft in it's present state - what have you got to lose?

It can easily be done, but as I understand the laminate ferrule is integral to its lower end mass design.

In other words, putting a conventional ferrule on the shaft will alter it's deflection characteristics.

Just a little food for thought.[/QUOT

I've replaced them with a capped ferrule reamed out to tenon diameter so i end up with a flat bottom tenon hole on the ferrule. Seems to work just fine.

The ob shafts also have balsa wood for tenon,be careful not to alter it.
