New Joss Cue - Initial Impressions

I purchased a new Joss cue last week and thought I would post my initial impressions. I will provide an actual review after I have used the cue for a while. The short answer is that I like the cue a lot so far and it has lived up to the Joss reputation.

I picked this cue - http://www.josscues.com/html/cues/av27.html. It is wrapless. Fairly simple with some nice touches. I had the cue set up with the the LePro tip (the standard tip installed by Dan absent a request for something different), an overall weight of 19.5 ozs, and a 12.75mm shaft.

The cue is very well balanced, and hits with excellent feel and touch but no adverse feedback. The joint is tight and you hardly know it is there (it almost feels like a one-piece cue). The cue felt a bit different than the cues I have been playing with (size of shaft and butt, and perhaps the exact taper) but I adjusted quickly in about 15 minutes of play and no longer notice any difference. The cue hasn't missed any shots since I got it.

I went to the Joss store in Towson, MD and picked the cue up directly from Dan Janes. It was worthwhile drawing on his experience in selecting shaft size, etc. Dan of course knows a lot about cues and is very nice in person.

At this point, I really like the cue and it is everything I expected.

Gosh.....I had better sell all my cues and get a Joss.
My cues do occasionally miss a shot whereas your Joss..."The cue hasn't missed any shots since I got it."
Dan Janes really does make a great cue.......look how Stroud & Scruggs turned out after working with Dan.

Beautiful cue, just the way I like them: simple elegance. Glad to hear that it's living up to your expectations.

I second everything you said about Joss cues. Love mine. Just ordered an extra shaft from them and yes Dan seems like a good guy. Every time I called them Dan answered the phone himself. Impressive.
