Hello all,

I am almost finished with my attic finishing project and should be painting within the next 1-2 days. Just wanted to get others opinion on paint color combos.

Should I stick with traditional white on white (ceiling and walls) or have a different color for the walls and ceiling. I have no interior decorating skills whatsoever and haven't a clue on what colors would go good together...any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I like Southwestern colors and tones, subtle, but colorful, creating a warm pleasing environment that is always comfortable.

something different

They have a kit available at Home Depot and sometimes at Walmart too. It has a double roller with a paint tray with a divider in it. You put two colors of paint in it. One medium brown the other a light beige. The rollers are made of a sponge type material. When you follow the instructions painting the walls you get a very unique finish. It looks just like old weathered plaster. I have done it in my home AND at our pool hall. It is time consuming to try and do a whole pool room but an attic should be pretty easy. My sister did it with two colors of blue for my neice's room. We added stickers of fish and mermaids and it looks like her room is under water now. Like I said, cheap kit to buy, but there are lots of things you can do with it. Good luck.

nice project... my 2cents... If the attic is smaller, and the ceilings are sloped, you might want to consider using the same color from floor up the walls and ceilings to the highest part of the ceiling...it'll make the room look bigger (according to an episode of Trading Spaces). And if you wanted more than one color, then you could paint half the room one, and the other half another, givining it a feeling of whimsy or game-play. For flat ceilings, I'm not sure if that would make a difference. I think lighter, bright colors would be good rather than pastels, but that's just me. Paint is cheap...and easy to fix! Have fun...
