I have a friend who will be hooking up with Ron Geyer in a few days. Supposedly Ron as 5 Schons, all brand new and not NOS with true spliced points and 3/8 X 10 pins. Apparently they are going to try them out to see how the sell/play. No inlays, and asking price is $1150? Anybody know of this new line?

Personally, there are very few Schons that I would pay that kind of money for unless they were Runde era with true spliced points.

Thanks.

Scott,

For the last 2-3 years I believe they have been making a few batches of these spliced prong cues. At least they have been bringing some to the SBE in Valley Forge. Last year or the year before, we spoke with Evan Clarke about them. The quality of the points looks good, but IMO the old spliced prongs looked a little better. On the new ones I have seen, they seem to be using the thinner veneers and the point do not look quite as deep. They, too, had a Radial style pin (wood to wood interface) instead of the typical piloted SS 5/16-14 set-up.

If it's anything like the market is now for Schons....everybody knows someone who is a 'dealer' and as a result you can generally pick up a new cue for $100 over cost instead of the actual retail.....then they look like a pretty nice cue for the money.
