Maple wood still the best material for a pool shaft IMO...

I don't think that's entirely true?
Mezz has the HP2 (I think), Cuetec has the R360 that use some kind of "composite core" not consisting of wood!

I think McDermott was the first to use carbon fiber in their G-Core shaft. I am certain that the G-Core came out prior to Mezz offering any shaft with carbon fiber.

Wasn't the G-Core introduced before the Cuetec R360? I was not aware that the R360 contained any other materials than wood, and to my knowledge they do not currently.

However I am working from memory here...
