New Z-Shaft

I am pretty used to using thin shafts, I prefer 11.75-12.25 with a not too severe conical taper. I heard that Z-shafts are pretty similar to what I like. How severe is the taper on it? Does it stop you from having a long follow thru with a snug closed bridge? And how would you rate it compared to a predator, tiger x-shaft, and other spliced shafts, on how it feels? I want to get one, but I want to make sure the investment is worth it. Nobody I know has one, so there is no way I can test it.

a Z is a predator, unless by predator you meant 314.

i used to shoot with a Z, which i believe is the same as the new Z2 except with a soft crappy ferrule. i never had a problem with follow through, although it is subjective and you are gonna want more than one opinion. it is pretty conical though, after the first 5 or so inches. i have long arms so i follow through about 2/3-3/4 the length of the shaft, and i almost always use a closed bridge. you will feel the taper in your bridge, so you will difinately want to try b4 u buy.

Played them all and like the TigerX shaft, by far and away, the best. The Zshafts have the big name and a big following but it would be worth your while to call up Tiger and talk to them. Chat with Cory or Tony, tell them what you're after - they are very accomodating.

I switched last year from the 314 to the Z, and I love it. I have tried all of the others, and I like the Z best for myself. I have a med length stroke, and I do feel the shaft get tight in a closed bridge at the end of longer strokes, but it only took me a couple weeks to get used to it. I can't say whether it will work for you or not, but I like the Z a lot. I have seen used ones on the wanted/for sale forum here that are pretty reasonable. If you don't like it, you will probably be able to get most of your money back out of it if you buy used. Hope this is helpful.
