Newly refelted table plays poorly?

Hi All,

A question for those knowledgeable about refelting tables or newly refelted tables. My friend recently had his GCIII refelted with Simonis 860. Everything looks good....ie., it looks like the table mechanic put the felt on nicely. Felt is on tight. However, I can't play on it very well. It plays alot faster than it used to and, althought I can't put my finger on it, it is difficult to make shots. The balls don't react well...they seem to "slide". It's more difficult to get position etc...

Has anybody else every had a problem playing on a newly refelted table? Will the felt eventually "break in"? Is the felt on too tight? I miss the way it use to play and am wondering if it will improve or if something can be done?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Doug

Doug,
The slide is typical of all new cloth. What create this are the sizing and the die that are left on the surface of the cloth. When you get your cloth you can actually feel it on top of the cloth, it has an almost silicon feel. I have given many demonstrations at pro events demonstrating what table slide is. When we clean a new table with Quick-Clean the table slide will disappear. We usually clean the table twice and make sure that the railings are wiped good and the slide is gone. This is one of the reasons that Steve Tipton uses it on the WPBA. They always play the finals on a new cloth and the Quick-Clean eliminates the slide for them. The formulation of the Quick-Clean lifts the sizing and the loose die from the cloth without wiping it in. Hope that this information will help.

David,
With all due respect, do you have any ties with Quick Clean, or is it just a product you rate highly.

Also, since you seem to know quite a lot on this subject,

1)can quick clean products be shipped to Australia
2) How long does a can last
3)what is mostly the make up of the product, i.e water based, chemical?

Thanks for your knowledge

Dave.

Yes sir I am the inventor of the Quick-Clean products.
You can have it shipped to Australia by getting a freight forwarder and I will ship it to your freight forwarder.
I ship by UPS and they will not ship aerosol products out of the country if it has to be airfreight. I tell people that they will get about 15 cleanings on a 9-foot table. I can get 19 or 20 but I have had a lot of practice. The Quick-Clean is mostly made up of chemicals but there is a slight bit of water to help with the chelating agents. If the product is used according to the directions when you are finished cleaning (60 seconds) you table is dry and ready for play and chalk free.
