Hi -

I have a 30+ year old Dufferin one-piece, 4 point cue that I like. It was filthy, the finish was cracked, and the tip was missing, but it was straight enough for me. I sanded off most of the finish, added a new tip, and I like the way it shoots and feels in my hands.

How much would it cost to make it into a two-piece cue?

Thank you.

All depends on what you want to be done to it. The price could run from as little as 30.00 to just cut and install a pin up to 500.00 or more if you wanted a joint, butt cap, re-taper, shaft work and by whom is doing the work.

Bumpa,

You should tell us where you are located. Then, a CueMaker/RepairMan (CM) in your area can contact you, either on-list or via PM, and you two can work out what it is you really want, and from there a solid price. CM's can't give out exact pricing in this forum as the rules prohibit it. Plus, the CM will need to see the cue to determine what condition it is in - I know you sanded the finish off, but it all works together.

It is not a difficult project

Thank you for replies.

I am in Davis, CA near Sacramento. I know I am probably dreaming, but when you find an old stick whose karma matches your own, it becomes kinda special.

All I want is a joint (pin?) in this old cue. Should be a quick and easy job for an experienced cue-maker, but it is probably not cost-effective.

As a newbie, I am also discovering how much I like the feel of a sanded, wrapless finish on the butt. My hand tends to stick to a hard, glossy finish, but a sanded finish feels warm and friendly to me. No need to refinish this old stick...

Thanks again.
