How many times did they held World 9 ball competition here in the UK? But never did they show it on TV! Not even on newspapers. They are proud to show snooker, which I HATE!! Good thing I signed on AZBilliards or else I won't be noticing that World Pool Masters in being held here. Oh, yeah, I notice the poster at Rileys Pool Club in Nottingham, it was posted under the bar table, the one where you lift to pass the bar tender, yes under it! The bar tender lift it up to pass that's when I noticed it.

I'm not sure how much they talk about the WPC in the newspapers or on the sports news, however, Sky Sport's in the UK has the finest coverage of the World Pool championship's on TV than anyone I know of, except perhaps now Taiwan.

This year they showed 50 hours of coverage of the WPC and on some days up to seven hours of coverage. Conversley here in Canada all we get is an 18 hour highlight package and the USA only gets a pathetic 4 hours coverage.

This link here verify's just how much of the WPC 2005 was shown by Sky Sports.

I don't have Sky Sports, just the British Eurosports. I know Sky soprts has worldwide coverage. But what I am saying is snooker has 4 tv coverage, 2 cables and the normal BBCs nothing on 9 ball, unless I switch to Sky digital.

Basically, if you want to watch 9-Ball on British television, you are going to have to switch to Sky Digital. Eurosport don't hold pool in the highest respect and the last time the BBC showed pool was around 1980/81 when they showed an exhibition match between Cliff Thorburn and Steve Mizerak (anyone have a tape of that match?).

Also, apparently (although I don't read it) the "Daily Star" cover Matchroom promoted pool events. Other than that, I don't know of anywhere else that 9-Ball gets much news coverage other than here on the web. Sadly, for us, that's just the way things are - in the cuesport world, snooker is King in the eyes of the British public and it would take something monumental for that to change.

In general, I guess the pool scene (compared to snooker) really sucks. If I lived in the UK I'd sign up with Sky Sports digital in a heart beat. You have that option of luxury that so many of us in North America wish we had, but don't.
