Lots of talk about elbow drop, I don't think about it anymore.

I might of first seen this video here, but it is worth repeating.
This kids elbow won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
btw, he also does it lefty. sick

I almost titled this thread fundamentals, what are they good for?
 
I only watched a short while.

Look closely & you will see his elbow drop some on the back stoke, come back up & then drop some again. That is to allow the cue to move more in a straight line than a stroke where the butt end rises going back which makes the tip go down, etc.

If I had to guess, I would guess that his elbow drops more on a power shot if he has to hit one. Small stroke, small drop, larger stroke larger drop would be my guess.

Snooker is a different case than pool, there is seldom any elbow drop.
Diiferent conditions (mainly table height), different objective in shots, thus different stance etc.
From what I can recall the only one from the great Snooker champions who would drop elbow often was the late Alex Higgins.
