Nylon cue wrap coating

I have a McDermott D-4 nylon wrapped cue. I've gotten used to no wrap and would like to clear coat the nylon wrap so it feels more like a wrapless cue. What would work best as a coating? Would leather be better? Could the cue be made into a wrapless cue?

Yes to all you asked. Leather is probably the quickest turn around option. McDermott does great leather wraps for those who don't know. For finishing over the polyester wrap, I would call McDermott first. Ask for Toni and see what your options are.
