Ob Cue series

Has anyone hit with any of these cues? I have a buddy that has a Mcdermott with an ob1 shaft and loves it. He's interested in buying a full cue. Particularly the 208 Series Cocobola.

Does anyone know if it hits better or is essentially worth the money to buy the cue instead of just the shaft?

There is no doubt that the OB shaft works great. Your main difference is that the Mcdermott cue has a 3/8-10 thread into wood joint 99% of the time and the OB I believe is a 5/16-14 into brass insert. This will tend to change the feel of the hit imho. The hit itself should be the same.

Jim.

After checking out the website I did notice that joint was different from the one he has. With the steel joint I would think the hit would be a little stiffer. I'm not really familiar with how the size of a joint would change the hit.

Your going to open a can of worms if you are not careful. This will be up to personal opinion and buddy there are alot of those.

That's what I figured. I'll just help him find one and if he likes it great. If not he can look for something else. Thanks for your help.

Put a OB shaft on a Joss but and you have your OB cue. Just saw a Rep. from OB saying their cue butts are made by Joss. You can get real fancy or plain.bet it ia a great hitting cue if you like OB-1 shafts.

Your best bet if he wants an OB1 cue is to get the cheapest joss made and put an OB1 shaft on it as they are made by joss or get the lowest on the line of OB1 cues as they will hit the same for the more expensive models.

He likes the cue. He's struggling a little bit though. He's trying to get better while transitioning to a new cue.
