unfortunately the owner passed away and the company closed. They were doing great work towards the end. They made me a custom cue in their final months, and a cuemaker local to me looked at it and said it is one of the highest quality cues with one of the best finishes he has ever seen. Amy jones handled the making of my cue, and her customer service was top notch. A big loss to the cue world for sure.

I'm actually a little surprised that a Chinese company hasn't bought the OB name yet. Not that I would like that.
OB was mostly a US known company. I don't think a Chinese outfit would buy a name that didn't have more global customer base. That's why there are so many Predator knock-offs, their products have much more global reach. I really thought that with Mark G. getting involved OB would last a while. Just a guess here but his getting sick and passing must have had some impact on their closing.

Wasn't Dale Perry involved in the cue design and making process the last couple years of the company. He isn't known for the highest quality or best hitting cue as he takes on a much more "mass produced" approach.

Ever used one? His cues play great. One of best deals out there. He was a tech. consultant to OB on CNC equipment which he knew a lot about. His input had nothing to do with OB's business troubles. Their problem was cash flow as it usually is for small guys trying to be big guys. Mark Griffin got involved and things were looking much better. His health issues probably had a lot to do with them struggling.

I have a DP from 2000. It is as good as any out there. The feel/look/construction. Being the screwball I am … it got a good ding on the butt. I had Proficient refinish it and never used it again. When I croak someone will get a finely made beautiful DP.

Not the same experience I had when I had him make a cue to my specs in the presumed (his) better cue making days, sold it within 2 months of getting it...

Yes, I did after ordering one from him to my specs. Dead hit, points in sleeve and diamonds in butt did not have sharp tips plus the leather wrap was not square to the edges and the seam was quite visible and raised.

Dale kinda screwed his own market base when he switched from pure customs to cranking out basically his own version of a Lucasi ie. cnc built basic players. I had a plain 4pt that went for 130bux on ebay that played as good as any cue i ever owned.

That sux. I never hit one i didn't like. Quite a few owners in my area and all of them played great. His grade 4 shaft i think it was had great wood. A lot of cnc heavy cues don't have sharp points in points/inlays.

Thanks a lot for reply, and I heared someone took over their business after they close down the company, do you know if someone has the business now and we might have something to do with them. Thank you very much for help. Leon

I have friends in Dallas area and they all say its over. Not sure who got their equipment. It may still be in place if they filed bankruptcy.

I see… Could you ask your friends if they know the company’s contact information, maybe I can take over their business if they interested, thanks a lot.
