OB+ Pro Ferrule replacement

Looking for some advice. I have never ran into a OB+ Pro ferrule replacement. I trimmed the old cracked ferrule off. How should I approach the foam inside? Someone also told me I needed a drill press! Why, To drill out the foam and replace it with new foam? Using a Chris Hightower Deluxe lathe. Thnx for any help.

The foam is not necessary. Just clean it up as best you can and replace the ferrule.
The only real reason for the foam is to keep it from sounding weird, and that really only happens with carbon fiber.

Why do you have to touch the foam at all to replace the ferrule?
There's a tenon under the ferrule, or did you cut that off?

No no no, I just cut the cracked ferrule off. The reason I asked about the foam is only because it was recessed roughly 1/4 inch from the tip of the tenon. This customer is super super picky. Just need the hit, to be as close to factory as possible. Either way resin will fill the empty spot up.

Is the tenon on the OB sticking out of the shaft with a ferrule attached around it or is it the style where the ferrule has a reduced diameter section that slides down into the shaft? Curious because I have a guy that wants his changed to a different material.

Customer is just so picky I have been concerned with the hit, I don't see the way I'm gonna finish it making any difference.

Lots of ferrule choices,
That could be a pain in the ass by itself.

Good luck with the same hit.
That could change using a good epoxy compared to what was originally use.
Close is as good as your going to get.

use Isoplast as the ferrule material, and the customer will be happy....and it will NEVER crack again. VERY light weight, but VERY strong material

Interestingly I just received something similar. Since the tenon is short and chewed up, I first thought about making a ferrule like on a carbon fiber that would insert into the hole, but I think I will cut the shaft back slightly and make a tomahawk ferrule to fit the existing tenon.
