Jim Odom Texas cue maker beginning in 1998. Jim took inspiration from Herman Rambow and Paul Kersenbrock. This cue has heavy Rambow influence. Full splice, appears to be Wenge or Palm wood into straight Maple nose. I believe this cue butt to be from 40s or 50s and turned down a bit in the handle area. The four points are very close - one perhaps an 1/8 inch off in height. The cue sports IVORY FERRULES ON BOTH ORIGINAL SHAFTS, IVORY HOPPE RING, AND A FULL 3/4 INCH SOLID IVORY JOINT WITH A BIG BRASS RADIAL PIN. CUE PLAYS SUPER SOLID- OLD GROWTH SHAFTS FOR SURE- MY BEST COMPARISON TO THE HIT OF THIS CUE IS A SCRUGGS IVORY JOINT SP THAT I OWNED UNTIL 5 YEARS AGO.
Cue is in super condition - it is signed and dated '04-- full finish on the cue butt. Shafts are very straight, sport a Triangle and an SIB medium tip and the shafts are in super nice condition. The cue butt has a slight roll out towards the front of the cue nose. The only flaw is a very hairline crack in the Ivory Hoppe ring- quite common and barely noticeable. --- Rambow style buttcap- no rubber bumper.
Cue is 58 inches, even split. Both shafts are 12.85MM and constant taper reaching 13MM at 11 inches from the tip. Butt weighs 16.1ounces, shafts weigh 3.7 and 3.8 ounces. JPs for the butt and one shaft.
True OLD SCHOOL construction, super older growth woods, Jim Odom made great playing cues. You will not be disappointed if this is your type of cue and cue woods/materials.
