Hello Everyone,

Just getting back into playing a little and have been watching alot of Pinoy players on youtube. It's very clear to me that several of them start the tip position in a different place than where they actually strike the cueball. Carlo Biado is a good example - he starts about a tip to the left on straight in shots and comes to the center on the last stroke. Lee Van Corteza is another one that is prety obvious - he starts near the center on everything and veers off on last stroke. My question is has anyone tried this and what type of advantage could this be? It seems to work very good for these two top level players.

its just something they do without thinking about it. don't try copying the idiosyncrasies of other players. find your own approach/path. as Arnold Palmer used to say about golf, "Play with your swing".

Stefano Pelinga mentions a Filipino system in his book called 90 50 50. You'll have to read up on it. Dr Dave details a 90 90 system in his aiming section. In Raga videos you often see him pivot - usually edge inward, but instead of sweeping, he'll pivot incrementally one practice stroke per increment. I don't know what he's doing but needless to say he's deadly accurate.
