David Truelove is a good guy. I know he had conducted some training session with other players including video taping the lessons.
Last January I had Scott Lee come to AAA billiards in OKC and give me a lesson. Scott has a great understanding of the fundamentals, but I think his strongest suit is he is a great communicator.
I use to live in Stillwater and played APA there, but that was about 13 years ago. There are some good players in Stillwater, but I'm not aware of anyone who is an instructor. I think you should seek out a good instructor first. And, just because someone is a good player does not mean they are a good instructor. Also, playing strong players will help your game, at least it has mine.
Magoos is a real nice place to go, but if you want another alternative, try Chesters at 50th and May in OKC. I'll be kinda busy for the next couple of months but will have some weekends available. I'm not an instructor and I'm not going to give you any lessons. But, I will introduce you to the stronger players there. Just to list a few of the players you will see at Chesters:
Joey Gray
Chip Compton
James Walden (although has not been around lately)
and several players just under their speed.
When you are at Chesters you will get to see some strong players match up. I'm sure the same is true at Magoos.
Also, if you would like, I can introduce you to David Truelove.
Just let me know by PM or you can call my cell phone at (417) 529-7983. Still have a Joplin area code because I haven't changed it since we moved hear. I actually live near Guthrie about 30 miles from Stillwater.
