I have about a 3O year old cue.I had the wrap replaced because the glue went bad from sitting.Cue has never been shot with. Its a 4 splice point window cue with only wood inlays for the windows. The cue has 4 veneers only on the forearm.I popped the tips off both shafts with my thumb. If the glue was bad for the tips and the wrap would it be still good at the other points of the cue?It has micarta ferrels and micarta joint sleve. Its still sealed like new under the lacher.I am forced to use this cue due to a trade it was a saver but I need it in action.Think the glues would still be good? Its straight.

The failure of the adhesive under the wrap isn't necessarily an indication of much. Back in the day, most makers used diluted white glue to secure their wraps, however this is the only place they generally used it. As for the tip, the same holds true (assuming the tip been changed in 30 years). CA wasn't in common use 30+ years ago, and there wasn't the prevalence of exotic tips that you see today. Most tip installers used some form of contact cement back then, like the ol standby - Tweeten's, which was also used only for the tip. Usually the "thump" test can tell you quite a bit about the condition of the splice, plus the wrap installer should have checked it prior to installing the wrap.
