Appreciate the opinion. I'm so impressed with this old shaft that I was wondering if it was magical, or just characteristic of an aged shaft.

I do know what you mean about the shafts on the older cues...I have an old Helmstetter with an old honey-colored shaft and it plays very well. I believe this has to do with these older cues seeing a fair amount of play over the years. I also believe that if you have a newer cue with some quality shaft wood, and play with it regularly, they too will begin to feel better and better.
