Old Hubler

I am rebuilding a old Hubler shaft for a friend. All that was left of the joint was half the ring work (sliced checkerboard). The insert is gone. The pin is 18tpi, what material was the original insert? Nylon?

I am rebuilding a old Hubler shaft for a friend. All that was left of the joint was half the ring work (sliced checkerboard). The insert is gone. The pin is 18tpi, what material was the original insert? Nylon?

I was told it was Nylon. I played with a heubler for years and replaced the stripped out insert on one shaft with the standard brass insert, and I couldn't tell a difference in the hit of the two shafts.
