Hello -
I started playing again after 40 years and wanted to by a cue. Among many others I bought an old Jacoby from Bob Fancher. The story I was told, confirmed by Dave Jacoby, is that the cue was built for Ernie San Souci, a renowned player and collector from New York. Are you related??
The cue was a very plain, honey-brown stained maple with a linen wrap. No points or fancy rings. It came with two billiard taper shafts (about 11 mm tip). The shafts were very dark and grainy. Mr. Jacoby told me that Ernie ordered them made from the gnarliest shaft wood Dave could find and then treated them with tung oil to make them hard. I had Jacoby refinish the cue and make a modern, pro taper shaft for it. It is now immaculate but I don't play with it because of the history. Do you happen to remember this cue?
Thanks,
DukeofDBQ
