Hey everyone I got another question for you. I was playing last night and there was a guy there who had this awesome looking cue. It had a curly maple forearm with cocobolo points , different colored veneers and a cocobolo buttsleeve. The cue was gorgeous and the cocobolo was the most highly figured that I have ever seen in my life. I asked the guy what kind of cue it was and he told me it was an omen. I know that Pete is a local florida cuemaker but has anyone here ever heard, played with or known someone who has played with one. Ive seen his site and his cues look nice. Any info would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

I have a Pete Omen cue that has NO Points and is all Cocabola.

I've been playing with it for a year and love it. Everyone that has shot with this cue has commented about the great feel it has.

I would recommend one of his cues to anyone.

i have played with a omen cue that a friend owned....was very impressed with the playability....only thing not happy with was the finish work over the ring work....would have thought if that much detail was going to go into a cue the maker should have spent more time taking care of something so small.....juston coleman

What exactly was wrong with the finish?

I am looking to have Pete Ohmen make a custom cue for me. I have recently purchased a used plain Jane "Omen" cue off eBay for a great price.

The cue I purchased has a cocobolo butt with Omen rings and black linen wrap. Very clean looking cue and I found the workmanship as good as any I've seen.

The cue is a 19 oz and 59 1/2 " long and the shaft is 12.5 cm. I replaced the original tip (Elk Master I think) with a medium Hercules and believe me.... This cue plays "GREAT!"

After about a week working with it I believe my potting (and I mean ANY and ALL shots) and cue ball control is the best it has ever been.

I also have a high end Schon that I usually play with (and love), but I wanted to try the big pinned wood to wood joint.
I have noted that the balance point of the Omen is about 2 inches more forward than my Schon. I don't know what has caused me to shoot a bit better with the Omen (whether its the increased length, or the thinner shaft, or the wood to wood joint, or the forward weighting), but I'm having a riot.

I would like to somewhat qualify the comments above by adding that I am considered a very good player and know what I'm talking about.

I would not hesitate to purchase another Omen cue, but I really believe that I would get it made longer than standard. Playing with the Omen always leaves me smiling....

Pete is a great guy and I’m glad to have known him and played against him for many years. He is one hell of a player too, if that makes any difference in buying a cue. Throughout my almost 20 yrs of playing pool, I’ve run across many types of people and players. Ranging from the complete aholes and idiots to the true gentlemen of the sport and Pete is truly a gentleman that makes a great hitting cue.

cuewhiz189 - Although I can’t speak for Pete and don’t know all the details about your friends cue. But, I really feel that if your friend would contact Pete about the finish, Pete would make it right.

Rick
