One Final Cue

For God's sake, Man! Don't jump too quickly! Find a Black Boar and a Richard Black and try them both out before you buy! With each of thes cues, the hit will speak for itself. I strongly recommend either type of cue to you.

Please do yourself a favor and try a bunch of cues before you spend your money! Be patient and wait for the cue that floors you!

I would love to, and in fact, that would be the plan if I didn't live in the middle of absolute nowhere... The only cues people shoot with around here are production cues and house cues, so there's very little chance that I'll be able to find someone that has a Black Boar, let alone is willing to let me shoot with it.

I dig the looks of the Black Boars... by far my favorite, aesthetically, so, essentially the point of this topic was to narrow down my options and get sound advice from people who know how different cues hit.

This isn't something that I'm just going to jump into, although I'm sure I gave that impression... I would love to shoot with whatever cue I plan on getting first but, unfortunately, that may not be an option due to where I live...

As I said, though, I almost 100% plan on putting a Z shaft on whatever I get since that is what I've learned with and grown accustomed to... that alone would change the feel of any cue, so, right now, I'm just narrowing down my options as far as looks and what I do/don't like.

Thank you for the advice, though, maybe I'll go out today and see if I can track down anyone at the hall with some nice custom cues for me to test out.

Take care, and thanks again for all the input,
-Matt

Southwest!!

Sorry, did anyone hear that? SOUTHWEST! If you are spending 3K on a cue you can get into one for under 2K and save the rest of dough to go to Valley Forge, and Bring the SOUTHWEST, if you were to find something that looked or played better (goodluck) you could trade it easy.

Matt,

Please aware that any cue that you find and decide you like the hit on is simply NOT going to be the same cue once you put the Z shaft on it. I am in no way knocking aftermarket shafts. However, there are many cuemakers who are players as well, and some take great pains to build a shaft with a specific taper that works in tandem with the butt section of the cue. You put a different shaft on it, and you have a totally different animal. If, you are in fact, dead set on using a Z shaft with your new cue, then I absolutely suggest that you have the cue built to include the Z shaft(s), instead of adding one after the cue is built. In this way, the cuemaker can make adjustments for optimum playability. However, this would mean no instant gratification, and possibly a long wait, but when you're looking to spend what you're looking to spend, it would be the only way to go...then it truly would be YOUR cue.

Lisa
