Contact 1 Pocket Ghost!!

1 Pocket Ghost is your guy. You can contact him here or at one pocket.org
If you want to learn to play one pocket the right way you can't go wrong.
Great guy, player, and instructor who truly loves the game and knows how to play winning one pocket inside and out. He will teach how to tie your opponent up like a pretzel and strangle him until he begs you to put him out of his misery. While some instructors charge you an arm and a leg to learn to take crazy shots that are suicide if you miss in one pocket, the Ghost is VERY
reasonable and shows which shots to take, which not to take and the reasons for each because he really loves to game and wants people to learn how to play the game the way it was meant to be played. I personally witnessed him this year tie up over and over again a very well known and great player (a 4 or 5 time World One Pocket champion). And that's only one, he's played with many great players and champions and plays weekly with the best in Chicago. Learn "Chicago style" one pocket from the Ghost.

PS. Thanks for my lessons Ghost. I'll get there someday.

I started playing. I use the term "Playing" very loosely. But when you hit 3 or more crazy looking bank shots in a row it is pretty cool.

I've never played against someone but I play it by myself at the pool hall a lot now. Espescially since they raised the rates on the Diamond triple shim from $5 an hour single person to $12 an hour even if your by yourself. So I had to challenge myself more. And my game in general has improved greatly. I look at shots I would have not even comprehended doing and take them.

I heard that some people will do a 1 shot bank shot followed by a straight in shot and the go back and forth. Would be a great way to start I think.

buy some accustae dvds just like I did, watch them again, again and agian........I found them were VERY useful~

Great tips from Kirkwood and Sasman. You might want to consider buying "Upscale One-Pocket" by Jack Koehler. It's easy to follow, available and affordable (I got mine for under $10 through Amazon.com). The best 1P books are "Winning One-Pocket" and "Shots, Moves and Strategies" by Eddie Robin, but they are next to impossible to find and extemely expensive ($100 apiece would be a bargain these days). Kirkwood made a great point about learning to play 1P the "right way" - if you learn the Chicago squeeze style, you'll be tough to beat and will definitely enjoy the game more (being on the sending end of the squeeze instead of the receiving end). Like I've said before, once you fall in love with 1P, you've got a friend for life. Best of luck.

Junior,

Not sure how far your willing to drive, but Jayme Goodwin in BattleCreek, Mi. Has his own pool hall and is a former 1pocket champ.

Besides that, i dont really know anyone in your area for 1pocket.
