Opinions on John Robinson cues

I saw one up for sale on eBay recently ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21212&item=3685840462 ) and was curious about other people's opinions of Robinson cues. I've read some good things about them, mainly from Robinson's web site, but I've never had the opportuinty to play with one myself.

The price is a little "up there" for me, but I do like the way the cue looks, although the joint is much different from most I've seen before... just wondering what others have to say about Robinson cues hit, playability, workmanship, etc.

And yes I know this is a very subjective area, but the more information the better, right? :D
 
Robinson makes one hell of a cue. All of his stuff is excellently executed and his finish is top knotch.

However, I personally don't like the way they play, some of my friends swear by them.

Unless you're a collector, I would see if I could find a Robinson to hit some balls with before I go dropping Robinson money on any piece of wood.

You make a good point. I only wish I had more time to find one to test out, since I haven't seen too many Robinsons around for sale and don't like to find out afterwards that I missed out on something. :eek: I guess I'll keep an eye on it for now and see where it goes. :)
 
Not that this should turn into a sales pitch....

But if you want, I have a plain ebony Robinson (refinished, with one brand new shaft, unchalked) that I'm looking to get rid of, and will make a seriously sweet deal on. I was looking to get $600.

Thanks for the offer, but right now I'm looking for something with a little more pizzaz. ;)

BTW, I can't seem to find that Robinson on eBay ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21212&item=3685840462 ) anymore... is anyone else getting the same error? :confused:
