opinions sought

Hello all,
I'm a decent long time player. I own a whole bunch of mid level to low mid level cues. My favorite playing cues I own are an 18oz pretty plain jane Huebler with an undercut handle and a cue I bought 'on a goof' off ebay that says it was made in the Phillipines somewhere, undercut butt, 18 oz, somewhat soft feel. The Huebler has a steel joint and the other has a phenolic. The Phillipine cue is my favorite hit, however its warping. Maybe due to low quality wood, I have no idea, just guessing, I'm relatively ignorant on cue construction.
I'm going to spend some money and buy myself something a little nicer this year, max $2,000. I know what I want, I want the Phillipine cue hit, the light 18oz weight, and an appealing look (my favorite looking cue is schon sl18).
So, I'm posting to see if I might solicit opinion that would narrow my search. Do certain types of cues/woods/makers fit the M.O. of the cue & hit I seek ?
What I know I like:
undercut butt/handle
18oz weight, low 18 at that
relatively soft hit, i like the OPPOSITE hit of a predator
Appreciate any opinions or enlightenment, or even a post that says "hey stupid, just buy a nicer Huebler lol"

thanks

I would try a Judd Fuller cue
The handles aren't skinny like a Tad, but they are on the thin side, and he has a Filipino taper that I think is called the Efren taper.
I have a couple of Judd cues, terrific players.
The other one is Joey Bautista, our own Joeyincali here on AZ.
His cues play great as well.

Hits

Hi,
Hits are really personal. I would try and hit with cues and then buy one.
Sounds like you like the hit of a bunch of cuemakers. A lot make the opposite of a Predator. I like Pete Ohman's cue hit, and Denis Searing, as well as Paul Mottey, but it depends on the shaft, joint, butt, screw, weight, taper, ferrule etc. etc. etc.
go to the Expo next month and try a few.
I'm certain there are twenty cuemakers on Azbilliards in this forum that can give you what you want. I just haven't tried them all.
Bill
