Orlando area pool rooms

I will soon have to move to the Orlando area and will have to find a new pool room to frequent.

Some of the things I am looking for, in no particular order, are:

1. Quality equipment that is well maintained and kept reasonably clean

2. A non smoking environment

3. Nine foot tables

4. Good daily and/or monthly rates

5. Tournaments are held at least weekly, if not more often.

I don't anticipate finding any rooms that fit my needs exactly. Does anyone know of any rooms that I should probably consider, based on my preferences? It would be nice to be able to narrow my options as much as possible before I move.

Feel free to PM me if you do not want to respond to the thread.

Thank you very much for your input.

Corner pocket on 50 (Colonial) might be your best bet, even tho I have only played there once (I live and hour away) it has a no smoking room and a smoking room. I recall 9 footers and the owner is a no nonsense kind of guy. I don't know about the tournaments. There was another nice room, tho not non smoking but, I heard they closed. A couple of weeks ago I heard they opened with only 5 tables. They are on bennett and I think they are now called barleys--doesn't sound much like a poolroom, but it might be worth a look. There is FastBreak Billiards in Longwood, they have tournaments but, smoking too. You'll find only corner pocket has the non smoking. Until our state tells everyone you can't smoke in public, poolrooms will be smoking...I hoping for the day tho, I work in one...
Anyway good luck and welcome to Florida!

Fast Break...

"I will soon have to move to the Orlando area"

Hey it's not like a punishment...it's a nice place to live...

Fast Break Billiards in Longwood is just north of Orlando...I've just been practicing a little...very little...at home and have stopped in to check it out because I read on this site that one of the billiards mags did a writeup on it...and because I pass it on my way to and from work every day...it's a nice place and I think you'll find the action you need as far as tournaments...pm me when you get here and maybe we can bang a few around...Mike

Thanks Poolhall Maven and Mike. The info is greatly appreciated.

I've been in Florida for a few years now. I am very happy with my current room, Uncle Waldo's Billiards. It's very close to perfect for my needs, and I'm proud to call the staff and regulars my friends. I am kind of sad to have to look elsewhere, but UCF beckons.

OTOH, I always enjoy packing up all my stuff and moving on. I've done it many times in the past. I am looking forward to life in Orlando. I'm sure I will find a new room in which I feel just as comfortable and welcome.

Thanks again. :)

When I went to school there (UCF), there were two rooms close by.
1st room was about .5 -1.5 miles just outside the campus to the right and on the right hand side.
2nd room was actually directly across from the campus in the shopping center.

Corner pockets on 50, not a bad place, but the owners is a bit of a dick. He screamed at me and banned me because he thought I was drinking inthe parking lot, the only empty parking space in the entire lot had beer cans in it already and he said they were mine. What really pissed me off is that I spent at least 25 hours a week in there and then he accused me of that crap.
I think Fast Breaks, or trickshots are going to be your best bets if the place just outside the campus is closed.
Oh and by the way, UCF has a pool room on Campus in the student activity center they also have a billiards team, or they did.

I used to love going to Corner Pocket on 50. Non smoking side and you could practice without 20 people hounding you for action and a very friendly atmosphere. I have not been there in 10 years but I understand not much has changed.
