Here, I experimented with the VHS digitizing system at work and came up with several matchs clips. Here is one for you. Quite short (3,5 min) and quite large (30MB) but those behind broadband connection will enjoy this...

Any opinions ? I think I rendered it too large, instead of 1Mbps I could've used 512kbps and the quality wouldn't have suffered much, but the filesize would've been cut in half.

Too bad I don't have much internet space to share, I could share the longer and larger match clips as well...

Good Work Mikko

Hi Mikko,

good work !! The clip is just fine though you can easily go for a lower rate to save filespace.

Thanks for sharing!

Oliver is alll over the place in that first rack- wrong sides of the OB all over the place . Its like a train wreck!!

My co-worker is talking too much during the second rack!!

Hey, Pigi. At that time Oliver didn't need to worry about position play. He just makes everything in sight... like a Machine.

Mikko,

Thanks for the clip. You were right (I am behind a broadband connection and loved it as it didn't take too long to load) Pigi was also right, in the first rack Oliver is out of line on almost every shot. Reminds me of something I heard Evgeny 'The Russian' Stalev say once "Why play shape when you don't miss!"

Just one request: do more clips!!

Nice clips Mikko. Thanks for sharing! I've always liked Oliver's shooting. He seems to have great basics and his stroke is pretty awesome too.

Very nice. Played well on my connection (cable modem).

Codec?

Hi, and thanks for the clip :D

The only thing I noticed was the typical horizontal lines that are visible when there is a lot of movement in the picture. This used to be a common problem earlier when chosing the low-movement codecs (when making div-x files for instance). Nowadays (as I understand it) there are more dynamic codecs so to speak, that assign more information to the sequences of the movie where most of the movement is, to avoid the typical compression errors. This can be done with div-x, but I'm not sure this can be done with this filetype (windows media).

As to Ortmann and his way of playing there is only one thing to say - when it works it works! Recently saw him in the World pool championship in Taipei (Sky Sports TV) where he litterally ran six racks in a row. Still lost the match though...

Regards,
Tom
