Overcoming Pool delusions

I do not have a video camera set up & often practice alone.

Yesterday, a generous 45 year veteran was waiting to play in an APA tournament & was kind enough to volunteer feedback on my "technique."

1. He informed me that I was occasionally clipping the head ball on my 2nd ball break. My CB placement & dispersement were 1/2 decent rather than scratching so I would never have known, except that I did come up dry.

2. He also informed me that I was occasionally correcting to the center of the CBl, when I would have sworn that I was striking the CB at 5 o'clock.

3. He also suggested that my warm up strokes should bring my tip closer to the CB, which helped tremendously.

Short of video tape or such personal feedback, how do you deal with pool delusions?

P.S. We played a few games of 8-ball & he was kind enough to feign disbelief, when I responded that I have been playing for less than a year.
