In the US open also he did well. For what he did in a match with me in 1994 I still did not get over that and after that I never talked to him when ever I ran into him.He put his hand into the pocket when cueball was going into the pocket.when it was on the verge of droping he removed the hand and the cueball did not go into the pocket.I think the cue ball touched his hand and got pushed away.Under the pro rules what he did was considered a foul.I am a more deciplined player and have intolerance for unsportsman like coduct/sharking etc....Usually I refuse to play with them and I do not like to talk to them either.

Touching cue ball hanging in the hole?

I don't recall ever doing that! I call fouls on myself all the time... It would be nice to know who is accusing me of such things! But then again, I have had things done to me that are unheard of!!! Oh well, i got over it! 1994? Please! If I would have touched the ball, I would have handed you the cue ball personally! i don't need to cheat to win, that's for certain!

Hi,
He won the qualifier to play in the mens Pro tour ?94/?95 event-Bicycle club Invitational in los angeles.Rules do not allow the player to put hand in the pocket. It does not matter whether the player touches the cue ball or not.He did put the hand in the pocket and I will never forget that.

Putting one's hand in the pocket is a foul?

If that was the rule, why did you not apply it? I would have not had a problem giving you ball in hand if it were a foul to stick one's hand in the pocket. That's why rules exist, to exercise them at the time of play. I am sorry you did not exercise your option!

Now, u are shifting the burden on me.By the way, u are contradicting yourself.

Let by gones be by gones and just run out!

Haha, nice try! All I am saying really is that I don't even recall our match, mostly because I don't even know your name, much less do I remember 'fouling' for sticking my hand in the pocket. What was the score by the way?

Lack of memory makes the discussion moot.I am not into woofing and endless arguments.I rest my case and I have nothing to say

Anyway, anyone else know about Pablo winning the tournament in Florida? I didn't mean for this thread to start trouble, just wanted to give my friend props for winning.

Resting my case...

So why in the world did you even start this argument? We can always rematch and I will grant you 'one' cue ball in hand during our match, just make my trip out there worthwhile! lol

Thanks John, my favorite Anglo player!

God knows I have had my more than fair share of 'very bad call' situations. If anyone would care to hear my whining, please let me know and would be glad to oblige! :-D

Just to let you know, I think he is a little on the nutty side, so don't worry about it too much. Read some of his other posts and you will know what I'm talking about. Welcome to the board Pablo.

Thanks for the welcome Last Two!

I would have to agree with you there! Any good pool player must have learned how to let bad things go ASAP. Otherwise, one tends to play bad and have a bad attitude while competing. As soon one makes a mistake or something really bad happens, one must make sure to have forgotten about it by the time it's one's next shot! Otherwise, stick a fork in it, for you are done! :-D

I noticed and told a story about Pablo. I have edited it.
I first was around Pablo in the late 80s-early 90s when he was in Penscola and I was living in Dothan Al. He was always entertaining and played good.
I played him a few years ago at Breakers inn Mobile and felt like he used
some sharking and whining to beat me. He plays better than I do but without it I would have beaten him.
Oh well I still should have just placed it out of my mind and won.
Pablo is one of the guys that I was around at tournaments and watching pool when I first started. Those were really good times for me. I wish my first thought of Pablo was about those days but tis about the match we had in
Mobile. No hard feeling and I wish him luck but I wish the good players would realize that "tourament fillers" like myself dont need to be sharked even if we are winning. If we win then so be it.

Imagine how great your victory would have been if you had managed to overcome the sharking. I used to work at a poolhall and we would play ring games almost every night after we closed at 2am. We would have 5 or 6 people, and we would play 15-ball rotation with the 5, 10, and 15 balls as the money balls. Sharking was not only encouraged, but necessary. You could do anything you wanted, but you could not come within a foot of the table, and you could not touch the person shooting. We would play for hours and hours laughing hysterically because of the funny tactics everyone used to shark. A friend of mine made a device out of a plastic tube that makes a very loud bang. He invented it at home and he made it just for the ring games we played. He waited for the perfect moment and got someone with it really bad. People were losing $100-400 in a night and still having a great time. My point is that after doing that for a few years, I've noticed that I am able to keep my concentration pretty well when people shark me, intentionally or not. When someone tries to shark you intentionally and they see that it doesn't effect you, sometimes they themselves get sharked out of frustration.

Hey, Pablo. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think you're a cheater. ;)

Congratulations on your win.

Hey Vagabond,

I had a player do the same thing to me once! As the cueball amazingly did not fall in the pocket, the player immediately began to play his next shot. I stood up, walked over and picked the cue ball up during his back stroke. I told him to sit down and I took ball in hand and ran out. He never said a word. That was the last time we played despite his constant pestering.

Rules are meant to be adhered to. Not broken to see if the other player knows them. That's cheating, plain and simple.

Andy

Hey Rude Dog,
Yes, I am aware Pablo won said tournament....but; I was not aware his nickname was "Tarantula"....I saw the post on AZB's....but did not look at it. By the way thanks for the info, Re: Pablo's nickname.
I am a supportive fan of Tracie Hines.
Tracie called me Mon. night while in transit to airport to catch a flight to Alburquerque N.M. for her next WPBA Event....Tracie advised me Pablo had won. Pablo put Tracie in the one loss side on Sunday as I recall.

Even though I don't know him, I would like say "Congratulations Pablo".

"Have a nice day"

Doesn't surprise me one bit!!! I saw him in the not-so-old days when he used to reside and play in So. CA @ the HardTimes, Bellflower tournaments!!! "Tarantula" we used to call out from the bleachers when he was runnin' out!!! :p He was probably the most naturally gifted players I saw in that room, and there were so many very good and talented players. He was a class act too. He behaved like a true gentleman (win or lose) whenever I saw or had the "misfortune" to draw him.

I personally never saw him cheat, break the rules or shark anybody in tournament play. I mean how many times have we "unconsciously" put our hands in a pocket anticipating a scratch!!! You never do it intentionally. If anything it's an impulsive resignation and negative response to a major f*up on our part!!!

NE way, my hats off to yah' Pablo and congrats!!! ;) My memories of those days and "Tarantula" will always be positive ones!!! Well...'Cept maybe the cigarette smoke!!! Lol!!! Take care and stay in line!!! ;)
