hmmmm.
I haven't played in Paris in years, but I'll give you an easy bump with things I found online. You didn't say if you speak French or not...
There's a list of locations
here.
In a poolroom pics around the world thread a year or so back, someone posted pics of an amazingly beautiful room with 8 american billiard tables at:
Académie de Billard at Clichy-Montmartre
84 Rue Clichy, 75009 Paris; Téléphone: 01 48 78 32 85
http://www.cerclecm.com/
I suspect from their site that they're more into cardplaying, though...
I'd definitely try:
Academy Beaugrenelle
32 Rue Linois, 75015 Paris
Téléphone: 01 45 79 67 23
Each review promises that this is a serious player's type room.
So now this is weird, but I once went to an indoor pool in Paris. This was NOT a regular indoor swimming pool- this was like a huge super mall with a massive indoor swimming pool series complete with huge wave machines... It was like a mall of america but dedicated to leisure activities- some have basketball, soccer fields, shopping, all indoors on many many floors. A search found several of these massive things, so I can't say which one I went to.
The reason I bring this up here is that they had one floor dedicated to pool and billiard tables- there must have been 50 tables total on that floor. And while you played, you could look out the window at the people going down these multi story water slides or riding man made waves... Anyway, a list of these indoor leisure palaces is
here.
As far as 1p, I've just never seen it in the UK, Ireland, or Europe. I do remember that in Paris bars they like to play "opposite pocket" 8ball- where you have to put the 8 in the opposite pocket (diagonal corners, or opposite sides) from wherever you put your last ball.
