I've seen more and more matches of this guy popping up on youtube, and more often than not he's beating a great player. is this guy a top player in the phllippines? does anyone know? just curious...

IMO, folks....

Patrick is just another one in a long line of young players from everywhere except the U.S.
Just wait, in another 5-10 years, the player rankings will be so different,
that there will be nary a U.S. player in the top-fifty or so in the world.

SVB will have retired--can't blame him as he will most likely have moved on to other interesting things.
Corey will have found something else besides pool to truly nurture his creativity.
Hunter will have decided "enough" (already scaling back on his play a bit?)
of the world travelling in order to play in a decent tourney.
Oscar will have turned full-time businessman,
Hatch, Shuff, Sossei, Moore, Wilkie, Archer, Daulton, Davis, and Morris
all will have hung up their cues to make time for their respective families and obligations.

I have always said that pool is alive and well--just not in the U.S.

As for Bergman and Skyler? I think these two will burn out quickly,
not because of who they are or their respective games.
It's because the pool scene here isn't strong enough to get them around the world,
which is where they need to go in order to get to the top.

Oh, there might be one, maybe two, U.S. players in the top-20, but he or she won't be young.
It will be someone who has been playing a long time--
someone with the years of experience, and someone who is able to assimilate themselves
neatly into the Asian way of doing things.

Again, all these youngsters who play jam-up?
There are so many Philipinos, Chinese, Taiwanese, Europeans, and Middle-Eastern players a-playing,
many are bound to get so good that they make some noise.

Again, folks, IMO, it's going to be a different pool scene in only 5-10 years.
